At the time this HDTV and DVD faq was made there were no Indian movies on DVDs which had a anamorphic aspect ratio of 1.85:1. All the indian movies on DVD which are anamorphic have the following anamorphic aspect ratio of 2.35:1

When will Indian DVD authors make DVDs in 1.85:1?

As soon as one Indian DVD company puts a movie on DVD in an anamorphic aspect ratio of 1.85:1 then everyone else will do the same. Which will allow one to view the movie with out black bars. The movie will also fill up the entire screen on your 16:9 hdtv.
